The scheme was launched in 1969-70 in 4 Centres on a pilot basis. Keeping in view the success of the scheme, it was extended to another nineteen States in a phased manner. At present, twenty Five National Career Service Centres for SCs & STs are functioning in twenty Five States/Union Territories..
The Director General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour & Employment launched the scheme of the setting up of NCSC (National Career Service Centre) for DA with the assistance of the USA in 1968. At present, there are 24 NCSC for DA in the country.
